I is for Indian Influence On Trend Report

Maybe it was Shakira. The international starlet shook, shimmied and rolled Indian fashion into the American mainstream during the 2006 VMAs. Before that, there was Madonna, who in the late '90s wore henna on her hands and saris to high-profile events. And if you want to take it waaaaay back, Princess Diana in 1992 made Indian fashion in the West all the rage after her trip to India and Pakistan.

Whoever deserves credit, Indian fashion is here and non-Indian celebrities all over are partaking in this colorful, bespoke couture. From bindis and tikkas on their foreheads to saris on their backs, mehendi on their bodies or antique Indian jewels in their ears, it looks as if Westerners have gotten sari-savvy in a big way. Rapper Snoop Dogg last year appeared in the Bollywood flick 'Singh is King' in a turban, and, this year, Bollywood is anticipating a lot more Hollywood presence, with Beyonce and Rihanna doing 'item numbers' in Bollywood movies – in Indian dress, we're sure.

U is for Updated Camouflage

Camouflage is updated by stark and modernist camo prints. From stylised linear leaf print in inky blues to an inked multiple mini leaf repeat pattern print with a risen 3D effect. Stylised outlined foliage prints with calligraphy florals and a leafy floral shadow print on a chunky and small mélange stripe, overprinted dyed in yarn in 100% cotton. An eloquent print story influenced by traditional tribal pattern obscured and distorted. Blown up animal prints, smudged animal markings and bleed prints, also in metallics and striking bold colour tones, Textured digital look animal patterns. Ethnic floral abstracts with a fine metallic filament gave a soft subtle sparkle. A technique of multicoloured printed knit looks and knitted-in textural zig-zag stitches into jersey. Energetic and graphic prints were blurred forming modern exotic geometrics.

BOTANICAL CAMOUFLAGE
Absract and painterly florals merge in and out of the background and are multi colored; combined with fauna and hand painted Deveaux to create complex botanical camouflage designs. Florals are simplified and broken down into basic silhouette shapes where they are filled with tropical photographic foliage or woven in reversible jacquards whose umbrae backgrounds work around the cut outs on one side and work to fill it on the other and becoming more illustrative. Tonal jacquards featuring metallic highlights show camouflaged florals merge into cotton and polyester viscose bases. Shrunken botanical burn out designs on light weight sheers are also there. Reversible jacquards feature spoldgey florals and are combined with abstract shapes and ombré brights.
